Departure
from
Entrago
A peaceful start through meadows and farmsteads. 18 km fully downhill — not a single climb. The pace is so gentle at first that it barely feels like you've started.

The Tunnels
The section everyone loves most. Tunnels lit up inside the rock, some hundreds of metres long. Darkness, cool air, and quite the wow factor.

Km 8–12 · Nature
Valleys &
picnic spots
The Teverga river flows alongside the path. There are areas with stone tables, drinking fountains and shade. The best section to stop, get out the sandwiches and take your time. Nobody regrets it.

Km 12–15 · Geology
Penas Juntas
Gorge
The limestone walls close in until they leave a narrow corridor. Moss, ferns and constant dampness. In places you can touch the rock without getting off your bike. Don't expect it — it's better than any photo.
The Bear
Enclosure
Molina has lived in this enclosure near Buyera for years. Free entry, no set visiting times. A stop that children never forget.

Departure
from
Entrago
Same start, different goal. 28 km in total, reservoir included. The first section is identical to the short route — tunnels, river, gentle descent — until at Caranga the route splits and things get interesting.

The
Tunnels
The same tunnels carved through living rock — lit up, cool, hundreds of metres long. Routes 1 and 2 are identical here. At Caranga everything changes.

Km 8 · The fork
Caranga
de Abajo
At Caranga the route forks. Most people go straight towards Buyera — you turn left towards Valdemurio. The traffic disappears, the forest closes in and the gradient starts to make itself felt. This is where the part not everyone sees begins.
20 km
still ahead
The only
climb
6 km of climbing through chestnut and hazel trees. The average gradient is under 2% — manageable, but you feel it. You can take it easy or walk a stretch without any problem. The forest softens the effort.

km climb
Valdemurio Reservoir
Just water, mountains and silence. Surrounded by the peaks of the Las Ubinas Natural Park. From here, it's all downhill.
Km 14–28 · Descent
Proaza
& the bears
From the reservoir, 14 km downhill to Buyera. The Penas Juntas gorge appears again — this time you cross from the other side. Proaza has bars for a stop. And at the end, the bears. The return transfer runs every hour.

What to see along the route
Tunnels
Five tunnels carved through limestone rock, illuminated with LED lights. The sound of the river, the darkness, and the light as you emerge. You'll inevitably stop to take photos.
Natural landscape
Chestnut forests, banks of the Trubia river and views of the Picos de Europa. The valley gradually opens up as you ride. The scenery changes with every kilometre.
Valdemurio Reservoir
Only on the 28 km route. Still water surrounded by mountains. A mandatory stop to breathe and take it all in before the final descent.
Bear enclosure
On arrival at Buyera, the Wildlife Park is home to rescued Asturian brown bears. A surprise at the end of the ride that everyone loves.

Recommendations
Comfortable clothes
No technical clothing needed. Sports clothes are fine. The route is downhill and requires little effort.
Closed-toe shoes
Sports trainers. Avoid sandals or flip-flops — the pedals and gravel will thank you.
Water and a snack
Bring at least 1 litre per person. There are few places to refill on the short route.
Sun protection
In summer some sections are very exposed. Sunscreen and a cap, especially with children.
Light waterproof
In spring and autumn the weather can change quickly. A thin waterproof takes up no space in a backpack.
Charged mobile phone
For photos and in case you need to reach us. Coverage is good along almost the entire route.
